Choosing a Child Care Center Can Be One of The Most Important Decisions A Parent Can Make.  I Have Children Of My Own, And I Was In The Child Care Business For More Than 10 Years.

I started in the business by answering an ad for a babysitter in 1987.  The parents wanted someone to come to their home every day and watch their 12 month old son.   My daughter was also 12 months old, and I hated leaving her in daycare.  So after interviewing with the couple and being offered the position, I quit my office job and started down the road to  my future in child care.

After about 6 months, I decided that I loved being with the children more than I thought I would and I applied for my In-Home License.  The couple I was babysitting for were happy to now start bringing their son to me every day, because I had other children to watch.  I lived in a single wide mobile home in a 'not-so-nice' trailer park, but I created a loving professional child care environment with what I had.  I attended the required Child Care courses at a local community college during nap - and hired a good friend to watch the kids while I was gone.  I soon was full with a waiting list.

With God's blessing, we were able to buy a larger home not very far from where we had lived.  We converted our double car garage into a Child Care Center.  Again, I soon filled up and had a waiting list.

After about 3 years, I decided I wanted to expand.  I found a little building not to far away that would be able to be licensed for about 30 children.  I built cubbies, bought what I could from Thrift Stores and with a $5,000.00 loan from a relative opened for business. . .

I sat there alone in that building for several weeks with just my own two children.  But with God's blessing, the children came.  Within a year I was full with a waiting list!

After about 2 years there, it was time to expand. . . I found another building that was not too far away that could be licensed for about 60 children.  We moved into the new building in September of 1995.  My center was full within a couple of months, and I had a great staff and wonderful parents.

Due to changes in my personal life and a move to another city, I decided to close my doors in October of 1996.  It was very sad for me, because caring for the children was my first love.

After a couple of years off, working with my husband in his business, I have found a way to be re-connected to the child care network through this web site. I began this web site in 1999, and have been developing and improving it ever since.  Maybe someday, I'll be in the business of providing child care again for my grandchildren, but for now - I do what I can for the industry through this web site.

I have dedicated myself to try and bring parents and providers together to make the matches that can last a child's lifetime!  I'm always willing to give advice or help in anyway that I can, just ask!

Thanks for your support
